Hello all,
I’m 27 and live about an hour west of DC, and I work in the biotech field. Growing up here always got me to think what would happen if some nuclear attack were to occur. 9/11 Y2K, hurricane Katrina, knowing the realities of global pandemic, a bunch of zombie movies, and whatever scenarios my fertile mind could conceive, got me to make my own bug-out bag, before I even knew what a bug-out bag was, I called it my emergency bag. But it was searching for survival skills on itunes that introduced me to the show some time last September; it has definitely been a catalyst.
Right now I’m trying to finish paying off my car, and student loans, before I begin any extensive prepping. I’m giving some basic container gardening a try by growing strawberries and slowly building up a month’s supply of non-perishable food. I’m trying to encourage my parents who live an hour west of me to put their 10 acres to use and start some raised garden beds.
Thanks to Jack and to the members of this forum, it’s all great stuff. Thank you.
