Hey all, how are ya.

I am an ex-pat Yank living in Australia, I'm in the process of getting the homestead here set up.

I suppose any talk of gridiron is out of the question then?  ;)

Best wishes to all for the holiday season.

Got a pollyanna brother living in Tasmania.....take care of him, will ya? He's got a troy pound of silver to his name (wedding present), so at least he has some physical wealth now, but nothing in the way of preps. :-[ Kinda makes me wonder whether he's the mailman's or the milkman's kid........

When we do that polar shift in a few hours, what are we gonna call ya then?  You won't be "down under" after that.   ;D

Welcome, Y'all!

Sending prayers out to our Australian brothers and sisters!  I can only imagine the pain, suffering, and terror that you all must be feeling in the wild fire zone.

God Bless you All.

A question for a most likely dead thread, is there any one here living in South Australia.

Greetings from the South west of Oz. Have been downloading the podcast since the beginning and it suited me due to the lack of time I have. If I am writing on forums I am not working on the farm And have been a member to quite a few forums over the years. I do thou work Fly in/ Fly out and can access this forum so far from work, most of the other forum sites have been banned which is a bummer. Good work on the Podcast and forum.

If you visit www.aussurvivalist.com, there are several SA'ers there. I have many friends in SA and have meet several of them from being on that forum. Noise ratio can be high sometimes thou. Its one of the forums that have been banned to me at work, and I dont have time to visit much when home

G'day,

I live in Central Queensland.......3 hours inland from Rocky.

Interested in making on-line self sufficiency/preparedness contacts here in OZ to share ideas and perhaps group buys. I have what I would call an interest (my family/friends say obsession....lol) with this sort of stuff.

Maybe we could get enough of us to get an ad hoc "Australian perspective" going on the podcast because as you know, not all things work here downunder as they might in North America.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this forum.

Hey Michael, count me in on the group buys - I have been looking at stuff like pressure cookers, solar ovans, etc. and they are 3 times the price what you would pay in the States. Might be good to see about quantity discounts. What did you have in mind?

Anything solar sounds good. I was also thinking of a quality grail mill (eg. Country Living Mill), mylar bags and perhaps the lister single cylinder engine that comes from india and will run on just about anything. I'm really open to most ideas including bulk food purchases.

How many people do you think we would need to make this happen??

Gidday Michael
My first post although I've been lurking around the forum and listening to the podcast for quite a while.
I'm from the Sunshine Coast and I've also been trying to source Mylar bags, dehydrators etc. as well as solar stuff.
Like Mash I'd be interested in getting involved.
Cheers
Jonesy

Greetings fellow southerners,

First post. My SOP is listening and lurking. In CQ, for those of you not too far away.  Good to see that there is at least a few independent thinkers who choose to look at the world rather than the TV screen.  I think we have some unique advantages living in the part of the world that we do, as well as some special challenges.  Look forward to hearing your ideas and opinions.
