CNN has reached a settlement agreement with Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann, reports Fox 19. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the student and his family had sued the news company for $275 million after claiming that it had misportrayed Sandmann’s actions while he was on a school trip in Washington D.C.

Attorneys claimed that part of CNN’s motivation was political, as Sandmann was attending a pro-life march and wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat. Meanwhile, CNN denied their coverage was politically based.

They made up a story whole cloth that required a Reason journalist to watch the whole video to disprove. Then they let the "drummer" do the rounds for heroically standing up to a bunch of Christian kids while walking past the grown men screaming racial epithets. Then they had their news hosts and politicians discuss openly why it would be OK to physically harm kids.

Put yourself in CNN's shoes. You've willfully edited a story to be not just wrong but 180 degrees backward and advocated children be assaulted in the street. I don't know what it takes to run a news agency but falsifying the story and backing child abuse seems a bit off.

Example delete is former CNN Commenentor Reza Aslan who pushed for violence against him (CNN later fired him for unrelated violent tweets.against others).

CNN should have been required in the settlement go run a "front page" story on cnn.com describing exactly what happened and each of their "stars" that participated should have to do a story on their show describing their part in the attack on this child.

According to PJ Media the suit names a variety of public figures including “Ana Navarro, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Maggie Haberman, and Kathy Griffin.” PJ Media also reports that “According to the lawsuit, the tweet calling Sandmann’s face ‘punchable’ further spread the false narrative that the Covington Catholic boys had aggressively insulted the Native American man, when that was not the case.”

The New York Times, Rolling Stone, ABC News, and CBS News' motions to dismiss the lawsuit brought forward by the defamed teenager were rejected Thursday.

"Today marks another important step towards achieving justice against a media that thinks it has a license to smear," Sandmann told The Post Millennial.

Sandmann's defamation lawsuit against The Washington Post was initially dismissed. Sandmann's attorneys later amended the complaint, reopening the suit. In July, The Washington Post settled the lawsuit with an amount not disclosed to the public.

Sandmann's lawyers also filed a lawsuit on his behalf against CNN in March 2019, seeking $275 million in damages for "vicious" and "direct attacks" towards the high schooler. In January of this year, CNN settled the lawsuit with an undisclosed amount.
