New canning flats deals/buys?

I'll never understand that.  You can go directly to the Tattler folks and get that dozen count box for $8.99.  I think you'd have to pay shipping, but that would still end up being half the price of on Amazon.

I bought mine in bulk packaging.

I think that in most cases this is just an opportunist that happened to have the product in hand.  I know that anyone can sell on Amazon.  I thought about putting my "extra" wide mouth lids on Amazon.  I bought them at about $3/dozen and they were selling at about $12/dozen.  But like I said before, I don't want to be "that guy"

Yep, a couple weeks ago, I got 50 WM and 50 regular lids I think it was $72 shipped.

In South Central PA, the regular mouth pint jars are $10.99 per dozen.
Regular lids are $2.99
Wide mouth lids are $4.59
Half gallon jars are $16 per 6

Just curious if you guys make use of half gallon jars.  If so, what do you can in them?  I'm thinking that I may get some to try some fermenting in them.  Just looking at the jars in the store, the half gallon jars don't use wide mouth lids, correct?  They seem to be bigger than wide mouth.

Found it. I remember this 1/2 gallon jar and canning coming up. Discussing it here with the wife.
Amish canning came up, then jar size. Amish can most/all of their meat when they have quanity. Wife seems to think they can with 1/2g also.
We're ck'in the ball book as she seems to remember something in there also.
So my questions are building up for the Amish next time I visit with them. They just keep moving into this area, from PA mainly.

16oz to 32oz is double the product, and 15 minutes processing time added.

If you go from 32oz to 64oz, which is double the product, do you add that same 15 minutes, or more?. Hmmm

There may be a point where the water in the canner runs out by upping process time.

Discuss??

Never ran out of water when canning in half gal. I have done a lot of beef roast in half gall O s with potatoes and carrots. Yes just add another 15 mins has always worked for me.

3 to 5 depends on which canner.

Thanks. Looking at my Presto, it may fit 5. Just to lazy at the moment to drag the canner to the storeroom, or jars to the house.

We're headed to the amish store today for LT's and ck their jar supply.
I need (want  ) more pints

Amish had the AG jars, low on stock but had them. No ball jars in sight.
Lids (flats) were gone. All they had in lids were the hot bath 1 piece lids.
I picked up 3 cases of pints at 3.99 case.

Hit Walmart, and all they had were 3 cases of 1/2 pints, and an employee was stocking one case of quarts.
