Found this thread over on the smokstack forum and thought ya'll might get something out of it. More info there than what might be expected, including an autopsy of the failed set.

Cliff notes version: Chinese junk dies after failing to deliver close to rated capacity. Fuel consumption exceeded estimates. Chinese junk would have destroyed virtually any electric motor connected to it(low voltage and hz). Old green generator purrs along like a contented kitten, ready for many more hours of service.
