New wildfires have prompted Level 1 evacuation notices near Sunriver, and the southern Oregon city of Paisley.
The blazes, which started Wednesday, come as the Rail Fire burns more than 23,776 acres in eastern Oregon and in advance of a period of hot, dry conditions in much of the state. 20% contained. More than 740 personnel are fighting the fire. Unknown cause.
The Sheridan Fire, which is about 1-1/2 miles west of the central Oregon vacation town of Sunriver, has prompted "be ready" evacuations for the Fall River Fish Hatchery and its surrounding subdivision. 300 acres.
The approximately 800-acre Withers Fire has prompted the same "be ready" notice for people in Paisley, local fire officials said in a news release. There are 19 engines, four dozers, one handcrew, three single engine air tankers (SEATs), three helicopters, one air attack, four heavy air tankers and a lead plane working on the fire this evening. Additional resources have been ordered. Human caused.
There are 4 fires total in this area, affecting U.S. Highway 395 and Oregon State Highway 31 from north of Lakeview to north of Paisley.
The 4th fire is/was located on Hwy 395 was contained at a quarter acre and the second fire along the highway was lined at a little over 2 acres and is being mopped-up. Human Caused.
