I didn't think i could afford one.  i'm not one that likes going into debt but it's the only way i could afford one.  i got 5 years term.

I have not purchased on before now, I think the biggest reason is that my friends who have one have theirs out of commission more than not because of the oil pump that needs cleaned after every use.  It is such a big job and it is just not worth it to freeze dry the food.

BUT

I was at my local farm store the other day and they have a NEW model that has an oil-free pump.  If that works as well as I hope, I may end up getting one.  It is a LOT more, but if it means I would actually use it, it would be worth it.
