Jack and TSP Crew at Wilderness Way Event
« on: March 10, 2009, 02:28:00 PM »
Well we just got invited to and accepted an invitation to lecture/teach as part of Wilderness Way's big annual event in California this August.  This should be really cool here is the info they have sent me thus far on the event,

"The location for the event is Silverwood Lake, San Bernardino CA. nearest airport is Ontrario International Airport and is about 38 miles from the event.  Last Year it was in the Sequoia National Forest and we had instructors from  all over the country including Canada. We had Ron Hood of Survival.com, Christopher Nyerges Author of several books on survival and plants, and a few others... You can check out the event details on our website, http:///www.dirttime.com  under events you'll see the promo add for last year.

We drew over a hundred people to the event and had awesome sponsors who donated stuff we gave away, including TOPs knives, Major Surplus and Survival, Mountain House Foods, and a few others Currently, we are putting together the adicle (article/advertisement) for the Magazine and would love to include you as one of the lecturers or instructors.

This year we are planning classes in Bronze Forging, Emergency Communications, Passive cooling/refrigeration and Heating, First Aid training and certification through the Red Cross and much more. We will even have classes in Bow making with one of the premier bowyers in the country. Our attendees range from military to LEO to civilians and is open to kids, as well.

Thanks for your time in reading this and keep up the great work. I'm constantly plugging your site."

That is all I have for now but I will update you as I learn more.

I would love to but with this type of distance this is going to be an "airborne mission"  :D

Good luck in Cali, Jack.
Ontario Airport is probably the best one to fly into, if you have to go out there.

I'll see you down in TX in about 70 days instead.

And ONT is really close to where he'll end up too.  So I second that notion.

Thanks Jack!

Okay race fans here's what we have, so far.

We haven't made an official announcement, because we're finalizing a couple of things for the magazine deadline next week. What I can share is this.

We have assembled some of the premier survival/preparedness instructors in the country, and Canada along with a few authors of books in the field.

We have some great sponsors behind us and are lining more up. Last year we gave away a few thousand dollars in gifts and prizes, including knives from Tops Knives and a beautiful Damascus Larry Dean Olsen knife from Legacy knives. We gave away tons of survival and first aid products and a complete DVD set from Ron Hood at Survival.com

The dates are August 23-28, 2009 In the San Bernardino National Forest

Last year was a complete sell out and we expect this year to be the same, so as soon as we release registration information on the dirttime website, if you're interested in going we recommend you sign up qucikly.

here's a couple of links to pictures from last years event

http://www.dirttime.com/gallery.html

http://www.raems.com/dirttime/Dirttime08.html

I will post again, soon, with registration info, and other info.

for now here are some pics of the area

I just want to point out to all that this is a paid event with a huge list of experts teaching a variety of subjects over a week in length. Not just a show up and meet Jack event, though I will probably make that available off site as well while we are out there.

Alan had a bit of concern a few dozen TSP fanatics might show up unannounced and raid the food supply,  ;)  I told him not to worry, ya'll have better manners then that and besides you are all pretty well fixed up for vitals anyway. ;D

Hello everyone.. Im Dirttime Dude, one of the Dirttime Team. Good to see a positive response.
I havent been able to really look over this forum in any real detail yet, but from what I have heard and what I see it looks good.

What we offer is a unique learning experience that involves modern, traditional and primitive skills.
It is not just a get together of good ole boys and gals. As Alan said this is a learning experience like no other.

After we post all the info and if you have any questions at all, just ask and we will answer, beyond our best ability.

Now Im going to try and learn more about your fine forum ...

 Dude...check yer6

Ohh Christ! Dude has found us quick hide... JK!

Again, Jack, thank you!

Folks, we're excited to have Jack on board. This is a great opportunity to learn myriad skills from different instructors.

Dude and i will be posting more info in about 24 hours... Yeah I know we got behind, but it is for a good reason, I promise. We wanted to make sure we hade a couple of things buttoned up before the formal announcement.

Best,
Alan
