Been going through our canned ham, and barbecue pulled pork. Need to rotate, so we've been having some sammiches.

How's that barbecue pulled pork working for you? We've still got some and pulled pork without BBQ sauce. Hey that BBQ pork is good on commerical pizza, haven't tried it on homemade yet.

Found a can of Hormels tamales, 10 months past the best by date.
Had them for lunch, topped with homemade salsa. Pretty tasty.....

Having an abundance of ramen noodles on hand we decided last night's supper would be some noodles in my home canned chicken soup. Added extra chicken and carrots, some salt, white pepper and more chicken stock. Worked out very well and much better than that flavoring packet would have been even with added chicken, etc.

We've gotten that way, in a short amount of time.
I've got other flavors coming with my amazon subscribe and save thingie in April.

And we've started to use ours more often.

We've been eating quite a few of our oldest cans lately. Since we moved to the new house, we've started by tearing down the old ugly kitchen completely, including the floor and we have to cook in quite improvised space now, with just a an electric hotplate, so cans come in handy. Usually we make a pot of potato porridge and heat/fry some canned meat slices with it. Not bad....though still couple crates of cans to go through, so....I may not like it so much when we get to the bottom of them

Last night we had a "salad" of Quinoa, black beans, homecanned pineapple and homecanned pork. Turned out quite tasty.

Except for the salad fixing's, everything we had yesterday came from the storeroom or pantry.
Augason's biscuit mix used as pancake batter, and homemade cantaloupe syrup.
Blackbean burgers (one of those items recommended by our buddy Carl) and a side of ramen noodles.

Tonight's supper was all from the storeroom, trying to rotate stuff. Asparagus soup with chicken and canning liquid, potatoes with canning liquid, and carrots without the canning liquid. I added a little white pepper from the storeroom but nothing else. Worked out well.

I drank the canning liquid from the carrots, wish I had added it also, it was sweet and a little salty.

We're still trying to do the rotate deal. I've noticed for a while that we seem to have a steady supply of empty jars that I take back to the storeroom.
We wash em and put a flat on (used or new) to keep em clean.

Used my hidden car key today... Managed to lock the keys in the car half wsy to a hill. Saved me LOTS of walking

Yesterday I used a couple pint jars of sweet potatoes to make a sweet potato pie. And used a couple pint jars of white potatoes for my version of Chef Paul Prudhomme's Brabant Potatoes. Just seasoned fried potato cubes. All turned out nicely.

First post here, went to help measure my sister's new apartment so furniture placement could be calculated. I had asked who was bringing the tape and was told my son was. Guess who didn't have a tape? The toolbox in my new car has a 30' tape so we got it done. Two weeks ago when we were moving the last of her stuff, it didn't fill up the U Hall truck so we used the roll of para cord I keep in the trunk to keep the boxes from tipping as we hauled them to storage.

Last night I took a quart of red pozole, a pint each of glazed carrots, ham canned it water and potatoes canned in water. Put it all together warmed it and had a tasty soup for supper. Just rotating the stash.

For those that may not know Pozole is a Mexican hominy, meat soup. And again for those that may not know hominy is a large kerneled variety of corn.

yesterday we had a scheduled power cutoff, so I tired some new tricks.
I tried powering my router with a stack of 9 rechargeable AA, but it is a no win situation. Router draws a lot of current, 0.7A, and soon voltage dropped below proper functioning. 10AA may be too much
Also lighted our dark bathroom with a USB bulb. Had the chance to measure my powerbank's stnadby current draw.
