My guess would be a heater of some sort.  This is an inline pump to grab a heat source (such as coolant).  The pot gets hot and you pull air through the pot for warm air.   Not sure....just a guess.

it is a waste oil centrifuge designed to clean used motor oil (and other oils) and cleans it to fuel grade.

Time to place the empty 25 gallon barrels at the local shop to collect used motor oil for fuel.

I figure I can get the waste oil for about .50c a gallon (or less) and with diesel selling for over 4.00 a gallon it is quite the savings.

So, that's super cool.  How many gallons of waste oil do you required to harvest a gallon of diesel fuel?  I know of a neighbor who has a sign at the end of his driveway stating that he takes used motor oil.  I always figured that he uses it for heating.

a gallon of waste oil.. makes a gallon of fuel :-)

Centrifuge just gets the crap out of the oil so as to not clog up your fuel filter.

Edit to add. It also gets the water out.

I'm sure you just used that tabletop to take the picture cmxterra.  It just shocked me when I saw the grain mill in the background.  My initial thought was, "OMG is he processing waste oil on the same table he prepares food!"
 

Really great set up!  I'm going to try to get the same set up when I get my "Army truck".  I don't know if the 6.5 diesel I have now would run it very well.

CMX - Why did you opt for a external system versus a system mounted on the truck.  Bsutter has one mounted to the frame rail of his and it works on the fly...

I'm sure there is a reason..  Pro / Con for either setup.

Bills just keeps the oil in the crankcase clean. Mine processes waste oil to fuel. I don't think there is a provision to allow him to filter waste oil to use as fuel on his as there is no outside source to spin the thing up other than oil pressure so his has to stay on the truck.

My only concern (possibly unfounded) of using engine oil for daily-use fuel is, the additives.  Apecifically, the ones added to make the oil resistant to burning.  I've heard (my wife is young, so it can't be  her tale), it causes a substantial amount of gunky build-up over time.  Are you concerned about this issue, CMX?

I wouldn't hesitate a second to burn it in my '91 IDI if I were short of fuel pennies, or all the way up to SHTF.  Hell, that's why I bought the truck I did!!  I use outboard 2-stroke to supplement my fuel, and add a little lubricity to the acetone-smelling crap they're peddling as diesel nowadays...

There are many in the Military Vehicle community that run some level of used motor oil in their trucks and have been doing so for years with no ill effects. So I am not really concerned. Especially since I do not plan to run 100% used oil.

That is one of the things that Bill and I talked about when I was up visiting..  Thought is that straight oil is to thick - even when heated could cause 'issues'..  so cut in a percentage with diesel, gas, etc and it'll change the viscosity enough...
