CMX - Are they generally sold in different states, or one central location? WHile I can't do anything now, it would be a fun project to do,.. I've heard there is a depot close to central KY (AVON) and since the BGAD (Bluegrass Army Depot) is close, I would think that there would be some nearby.

I see some on eBay.. Hmm There is a kraz 255 TMM 3 Bridge..That would be fun.. To have the M109a3 and the Kraz - nearly nowhere you couldn't get to..

Not a single point of failure (with just one bulb)
Draw less current
Better beam pattern
Look cool as shit (very cool looking shit, not your normal shit)

one of the big problems of HID replacements is 99.9% are illegal to install into a vehicle that has regular H series replaceable halogen bulbs, no matter what the package says HID's are meant to be placed into a lens assy made for HID to project the light correctly. you've seen many on the road that don't focus right and throw light all over everywhere except down the road but when you see a caddy-benz-bmw with them they look right. all the DOT rules in the world doesn't keep them from being sold every day sadly.

The LEDs Cmxterra has are Dot approved and have the correct codes on the lamp, you pay more but they fit correctly, friggin bright and really light the road ahead.

I wondered about a slightly different project.

Not sure which truck it is, maybe the 815 with a 20' bed, and then build your own box using SIP panels. I don't know if I would want a 9' tall box all the time, so build it similar to a Hi-lo trailer...

Still looking for a m109a3 - more as to just waiting til I can pick up one. Mobile Ham shack or smoke shack....

How about an M820? It is the big brother to the M109. It doesn't collapse but it does expand. 17' deep box. 3' expansion on each side. Comes with everything but the plumbing.

Only problem with those is it is based on the 5 ton and you need a CDL to drive it, unlike the 109.

I've seen some commercial rigs licensed without a CDL.. IDK,.. but maybe you can do it...

However, I'd rather not deal with the paper work and what not as having to had a CDL several years ago.

Yep, RV is the ticket although there are some hoops to jump through depending on what state you are in. The box expands only when not moving. It takes it from 8' to 14' wide x 17' deep. The M109 is the hot ticket though. Anyone interested should check out the M109A3 vs the M109A4. Both are awesome, but for different reasons. The A3 is a multifueler and manual trans - simple tech and easy to work on. The A4 has a newer CAT diesel, auto trans (wife-friendly?), split brake system, CITS - more comforts and more to work on.

The A4 is nice.. but all the bonuses that you listed were negatives for me since I was looking just for a BOV with the least number of break points.

That's why I have a 800 vs a 900 too. Just have to do some driver training for the family in case I can't drive. What size are the NDTs on your 109? Just curious.

yeah i'm with you. the least amount of break points is the way to go. less problems on the road while the zombies are after you is a plus for me!
