Thanks Jack, I guess I never knew how much easier it was just to email it to you. I found the place because my father in law lives out there. When we saw a vacant lot behind him we bought it for about $800. It was rocky and worthless except to camp on. The lot next to me had great trees so I tracked down the owner and he was willing to sell it for $500 to quit paying taxes on it. He bought it years ago when his kids lived at home to have access to the boat ramp.
Now I had a 100 by 100 lot. We tried a pop-up which was great until you had to pop it down and almost cost me my marriage. Sold that hunk of junk and found this hunk out there for sale by a retiree. I will tell you the place is called Thunderbird Bay and there are annual dues. You get a boat ramp and a swimming pool and, my favorite, you can ride ATVs on the street and the sheriff cant do a thing. You can google it and propably get teh number to the office, they are nice people and could direct you to someone willing to give up there lot cheap. The neighboring properties are Harbor Point and Tamarac Mountain which are much the same.
There is a fire department, 3 restaurants and a store with everything from Hardware to fresh meat and veggies. My nephew spent a weekend down there and when we left he said it was like leaving a whole other world, its just simple.
It was originally subdivided to accomodate just what I have or maybe even tents. When the bottom fell out of the real estate market people started buying multiple lots and retiring there with double wides. I can totally retire at 59 and buy a house out there and live the rest of my life. Its listed in May Texas by the way.
I call it deer camp because the deer roam through you yard throughout the day and night. Its pretty cool.
