I went to the GR gun show last week and i was suprised on how much the GI surplus was. I heard a rumor that after the 1st of january the AR fire ares is going to have a surplus of guns and watch for some good deals. Also I suggest everyone look at "when Technology Fails" it is one of the best survival books out there and it has just been updated and reprinted.

Yeah, I did.  Doesn't quite make sense to me....  Maybe some of the Wall Street idiots should be on the board too?!?   ;)

On another note:  I was at Gander Mountian in Coldwater, MI this weekend.  50 round Banana clips for 10/22's $30.  They also had several Mosin Nagant's for $100 each.

i just dont know what those idiots are thinking. ill have to try to stop by GM, i want to see if the clips would fit a .22 viper. im going to try to go to south bend and check out the army surplus store. my friend goes there all the time and says it is really good. i heard reports of new GI issue jungle boots for 25 dollars. the one we have here in kzoo is youngs and he is a little expensive.

I have seen the $25 jungle boots in many surplus stores across southern michigan.  One store asked me what I want them for.  I said I am going to malaysia this winter and plan on doing some jungle trekking.  I was told they would last for that trip but not much longer.  You get what you pay for I guess.  So, I didnt buy them.

Maybe off topic, but this will be my second trip there.  First trip I picked up a parang.  BEST KNIFE EVER!!  I plan on posting some pics in the blade threads about it when I get around to it.  I plan on picking up a second parang when I go this time.  My current one is 10in. which is a little too short so I am going to get a 12in one.  Awesome tools and cheap.  They are about RM18 which translates to about $6 US for the big ones!

I havent found too many "good ones" in Michigan.  Most seem to have slim pickings and high prices.  EXCEPT for General Jim's in Claire.  IMO this is one of the best ones I have been to EVER.  Lots of selection decent prices.

If you are ever in Toledo, Ohio check out Woodville Surplus.  They have a small surplus section but they are a store for the working man.  Everything is reasonable.  They have a good camping dept, hunting, fishing, clothing, shoes and workwear depts.  Everything is reasonable.  Occasionally the owner's dog roams the store.  They have been in business since the 40's.

i will defently try to go. any one that lets their dog walk around the store is a good person. i have never been to a store where their dog walks around and not liked the owner.

I would just like to say hello to everyone. I am knew to this forum and I wish that I would have jumped on board to the whole survivalism thing sooner. I have been one of the many in Michigan that have gotten permanently laid off from the auto industry. But thank GOD that it did happen because it has given me a big wake up call.

JHRATZER from N. Michigan here, Otsego County.  We have a really good crop of snow.  Looks to be a bumper crop of the white stuff this season.  If only my garden was as solid.  I plan to work on raised beds this new season.

Jimbo in SW Michigan checking in.
Am typing this whilst bouncing down the highway in a Michivan, ha-ha!

 Is there a PM feature like they have @ AR-15.com?

Am interested in gardening, solar energy & any other means to keep "Fedzilla" & the nanny state at bay. Good to go in the firearms department, but admit I'm shooting a lot more .22 and black powder than 5.56 & 9mm ball these days!

Globalism = SERFDOM

Nothin' better than a trip to exit 282 from I-75 in Gaylord for a meet up during the summer!
