Born and raised in Indiana, but lived in Texas for five years (best state I've ever lived in).  The wife wanted to move back to get closer to her family.  It was either give in or the big D  (the things we do for love  :) ).

Dang... late to the thread :)

40 miles N of Houston, in the woods west of Cleveland, have an address for Cut & Shoot, Tx.  (yup, a real town)

TxChikk, don't let trepidation hold you back. I belong to another board where we have set up MAGs, mutual assistance groups, for our areas. As an example of good, there were many helped during the evacuation for Rita & Ike. Since I travel a lot, I now know many folks in the bug-out routes I would take, should I need to leave the area. I have a couple of friends now, in the Lubbock area, that can look in on my 85 year old Dad...  it takes a while, but I have found preppers, those that GI, are generally the best folk in the world.

But, I'm a cranky, old fart....  so about anyone else is nice (so the wife says)  ;D

Thanks for the encouragement digger :). My reservations are a by-product of the times ya know? But I do have to agree that there are plenty of nice folks out there left to be met. I'm taking the Fighting Pistol class put on by Tactical Response in March and I do have some strong reservations about going.....but going I am.

I know right where Cut-n-Shoot is located, I drive through there sometimes on my way to Beaumont to visit my parents, I like the Post Office LOL  :D

Liberty, TX checking in!

Grew up here, lived in San Marcos for awhile, then relocated to Reno, NV for work, and moved back to Liberty right before hurricane Rita.

I work indoors to support my outdoor addiction!

I actually grew up in Tokyo, Japan, but have been living in the piney woods of Longview, East Texas since 2005. I plan to live here for several more years, until I move off to an engineering job somewhere else in the world.

Overall, I like Texas, but we don't get nearly enough snow for my tastes. Also, the prohibition on open carry of firearms frustrates me. >:(

Quilan (Greenville) Tx for me! I commute 61 miles to Richardson everyday. I listen to TSP on the way to or from the house...  Ithink I drive by three other board members on my drive.

I am a recent transplant here and plan to stay awhile.

I am a 31 yr old guy living in North Austin.

I am trying to establish an Austin Survival Tribe and I have already messages a few of the people on this message board that seem to live in Austin. If you live in Austin and you would like to join our group here is what our group is all about:

"Austin TX Economic Depression Survival - Tribe Getae

A private group of individuals who are preparing for the Economic Depression of 2009-2012 and beyond. Our goal is the formation of a community (tribe) of like-minded individuals that are reliable and trustworthy and who are ready to work closely to survive as a group.
We would like to especially attract people that posses essential survival skills (medical knowledge, food preparation, self-defense, mechanical repair skills); people that are food self-sufficient (have at least 6 month worth of stored food or those that have gardens); people that have steady and safe incomes."

If you are interested in becoming part of our tribe, go ahead and message me.
My best regards!

I am one more from the Northeast Texas area.  As someone suggested earlier, I would be interested in a gathering of other like minded people.  Anyone else out there interested?

Nice to see a familiar face from Kev's forum.  McKinney here.
