AUSTRALIA - Victoria Connections
« on: August 23, 2009, 01:30:29 AM »
It would be great to catchup with any individuals that are interested in some or all of the stuff involved in modern survivalism. I live in Melbourne. Anyone thats around maybe we should start a club going? Message me if you want to catch up.

I think a quartery meetup would be a good idea (if theres enough people)

Hey Jimmy,

I am currently living & working in Canberra but I have an eye on setting up the BOL in either Tassie or Gippsland in the next year. I'd travel for a meet-up.

Hey Mash
I used to live in Gipsland, without upsetting anyone, i'd suggest Tassie as a better BOL :) (but that just my opinion.....i hope to have one there one day too).
Anyway looks like i could be moving to your neck of the woods (Canberra) start of next year (i'm in New Zealand at the moment), I've never been there myself but any advice on some more rurual areas (if there are any) would be greatly appreciated...
Nice to meet you both too btw.

Yeah I know what you mean, I was pretty serious about Gippsland and had looked at several properties over the last few years, then after the fires I re-thunk. More rain in Tas anyway... But the right property for the right price in Vic would still work so I have not ruled it out completely.

Hm, it's a tricky one because you have so many public servants on good incomes here, prices are stupidly high. Some of the older suburbs have larger lots and you could quite easily do a veggie garden in the back. The newer ones, there's two houses on the same amount of space.

Depending on how much you like commuting you can get places out of town. There are some affordable properties in Yass & Murrumbateman, some even have river frontage... Also down south of town. I have not honestly put a lot of energy into looking because as far as I am concerned there are too many people here, and not enough water. Up until they made it the capital the place was a sheep station. I can't speak for WA or SA because I have never been, but I think on the east coast at least you either want to be up north where the growing season is longer, or down south where there is better rain...

anyway there's my rant for the day.

Hey Jimmy,

Could be a good idea if there are enough people interested  :)

I've just recently installed a square foot garden in my front yard. It's only about 6 square feet all up, but I'm looking forward to planting in Spring!
