Well its over. A lot of wind damage and hail damage around the county, but we are all fine. However, West Liberty, Ky was hit VERY HARD. One of our sister prisons is up there, and the only communication they had were the SAT phones. If you do that kind of thing, say a prayer for the people of Ky that lost everything tonight. There are already over 12 confirmed dead, and communication is completely absent in some communities still.
We definitely learned a few things about our preps and specifically our BOB bag. I would never have dreamed of using out BOB inside out home, but if we would have taken a direct hit, that would have been what was in our safe area with us. Tomorrow there will be an inventory and discussion over out bag. Also we will be looking for some used motorcycle helmets. May sound weird, but learned today that almost every casualties that occurs withing a structure is due to head injuries.
I also discovered that my iphone is the greatest severe weather tool I have discovered. Being able to look at the live radar maps while hunkering down for the tornado warnings was very reassuring.
