I found this the other day and thought it interesting.  Though I make no judgements about the authenticity or the truth.  Tinfoil hat maybe but I guess the seed vault may just be a front.

Even if it's just a front (and I agree it probably is) I saw a program on this place once and they do have an incredible amount of seeds.
