How do I use a sling to stabilize an AR15 pistol while shooting?

I know I've already asked one question but....
Is there a method of using a sling to " brace or stabilize" the pistol to make staying on target a little easier?
Right now I have no sling, it's just kind of a novelty.
9" buffer tube, 10.5" barrel. If that matters.

One method is to shorten the sling and push the pistol away from your body/against the sling. The push/pull tension in the sling is supposed to stabilize the pistol.

A buttstock will stabilize it ...with the bolt weight and all you really need another point of contact or you will just 'bounce' around.

But won't the buttstock make it an SBR?

You bet it will.
I can't understand why an AR style pistol has so many who like them...
you take a good weapon and cut off both ends and yet expect it to fit in your pocket and drive tacks at 500 yards...
You really  need another point of contact to stabilize ANY weapon as arms length just allows the human condition to enter the equation.
Maybe a bipod will help?
