3 Dead in Bow-and-Arrow Attack at College Campus

I suppose this type of case was inevitable to happen somewhere, and I bet they will try to strengthen regulations on bows next

Was it a crossbow? I couldn't tell from the story if he committed suicide with an arrow or something else. The first time I read the story, I was trying to figure out how someone could shoot themselves with a bow. I guess it was possible, but I am not an archery guy.

We had a "bow-and-arrow" related story here in my hometown about a couple years ago.  The guy was ultimately convicted of 2nd degree murder.   It was drug related, over a small bag of pot and a little cash.  No mention in the last year of increased regulations.    In fact, it is all but forgotten here, but your post reminded me of the story.  Surely not as frequent as gun violence, but I guess it is not as uncommon as one may think.

Apparently a compound bow according to the article in Newsday.

"He had smuggled the compound bow — a type much more powerful and effective for hunting than a simple, wooden bow — onto campus beneath a blanket, Walsh said."

Walsh is the Police Chief.

I guess a regular bow would have been ok.
And also according to the article, the arrow didn't kill him.

"After shooting his father with the arrow, Christopher Krumm stabbed himself, then fatally stabbed his father in the chest in a struggle in the classroom, Walsh said."

Another point I learned from this post is that Newsday is probably a better source of information than itsybitsysteps.com.  :-[

Isn’t it time for reasonable legislation to control these awful assault compound bows?
LOL

And quivers that hold more than 6 arrows, arrows longer than 28", bows with string silencers, bows of a certain color etc etc etc.
