I got a few wispy flakes coming down. SP and I chopped three days worth of wood rather than our normal one (I dislike chopping in the dark). And I believe it is 26f here currently. Chicken enchilada with mole sauce in the wood cookstove oven, as it sounded good on a cold day/evening.

Light snow/flurries move into the Portland metro area in the next 1 to 2 hours. NO significant accumulation expected until late this evening. No road impacts anticipated until after 7 to 8 PM. Black ice by morning. Other reports not quite in yet, for the updates. I ought to turn NOAA on the Baofeng.

- Roads starting to become snow covered on US101 near Astoria

- Expecting everyone in the Willamette Valley to wake up to fresh snow tomorrow morning. Those who missed out last night in the central and south Valley look to cash in this time. 2 to 3 inches expected in the central and south Willamette Valley.

-2 to 7" in places.

Snowing from Astoria to Salem currently. 2-3". Schools are closed or currently on a 2 hour late start in many areas.

I may have an inch here so far? But I didn't go out to measure. My work texted me and said to come in late tomorrow. My boss rocks!

- just looked up my local forecast... by Friday evening we could potentially have 7-8" here. I might have to bring out the dogsled after all.

- 7AM | Skies are clearing here in NE PDX, and as a result, temperatures have quickly dropped from ~32F to 29F in the last 30 minutes. This may result in a lot of the slushy snow and water on paved surfaces to freeze quickly. Be prepared for spots of black ice

to make it irritating, one of my hens went broody about a week ago. And is gathering up all eggs she can. I think she is about a week into it.

In 2 weeks it will be nice. Which hen is it? One I hatched? Or are they long gone?

one of the ones you hatched. a mix, the two full morans were taken by the damn coyote late last year. but she's sitting in the box weathering the cold. we still have 2 of the 3 roosters that you hatched.

It snowed on and off all weekend at my house.
Last week I had 6 inches... today I have grass, and we have more snowflakes showing for the weekend.

That being said... they just reported that they have located the two missing snowshoers, both dead.  And a snowmobiler yesterday.
I'm all for being out and enjoying the snow.  Love it! Went hiking last weekend, and love my snowshoes.

There are apps out there that will save your life.  If you want to go out, PLEASE, learn avalanche awareness.
Check out nwac.us.  Download their app.  It's easy to read, and a first look into the dangers.

Exactly!  The mountains are beautiful, but it can be dangerous out there.  You've got to take the necessary precautions.
Unfortunately, many people are ignorant of these situations, and find out about it all the hard way. :(

My granddaughter in Maryland texted me. They got 8 inches of snow but some of it melted and is now more like 6 inches.  They are near the military base.  We had snow but melted faster than It came down. Was so glad of that. So no snow for us.
