I see in the news that Wuhan is now flooding.  So is the flood near the lab.  If the wet market was near the lab I would guess that the lab was in the centerish of town.  I would guess that if the lab was built correctly it should not be able to be flooded, but we can only hope.  Floods destroy paperwork/records and lord knows what would "wash out" of the lab if it did flood. 

There are too many ifs, should and hopes in the that statement to make me comfortable.  With this situation I am very worried about something else escaping in the flood and now comprised population.  On top of that all evidence can be "destroyed in the flood".

Yes.  The lab is on a lake on one side and the river a couple miles on the other side.  Lots of speculation on Chinese social media about the flooding as they released the water from the reservoirs just before UN inspectors were to begin work.  The flooding is definitely intentional as it is released from the resevoir.  But no one has come forward with evidence that it was done to suppress evidence.

The FBI believes that a Chinese scientist with links to Beijing's military is hiding out in China's consulate in San Francisco in order to evade arrest after she was accused of visa fraud, according to filings in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco.

The revelation comes after Washington said it ordered Beijing to close its consulate in Houston, Texas, by Friday amid espionage accusations – a move China vowed to retaliate against as relations between the two superpowers plumb new lows over coronavirus, trade and Beijing's move to claim more authority over Hong Kong.

According to the court filings, Tang Juan, a biology researcher at the University of California, Davis, was questioned by the FBI on June 20 and charged with visa fraud six days later. Investigators allege she falsely claimed on her visa application that she had not served in the Chinese military. However, photos of her in a Chinese military uniform were discovered and it was later ascertained that she had worked as a researcher at China’s Air Force Military Medical University (FMMU), according to the filings.

The U.S. said in a brief statement that the consulate was ordered closed "to protect American intellectual property and American's private information." It did not provide any details.

Media reports in Houston said that authorities had responded to reports of a fire at the Chinese Consulate. Witnesses said that people were burning paper in what appeared to be trash cans.

"It appears to be open burning in a container within the courtyard of the Chinese consulate facility. It does not appear to be an unconfined fire but we have not been allowed access. We are standing by and monitoring," said Chief Sam Pena.

At this point we have to assume China has all the US biotechnology including former bioweapons research.  So what happens in future when there is another "natural" outbreak from Wuhan?  If we dont get a handle on this we will be facing COVID-20, COVID-21, COVID-22, etc. This is more danderous than nuclear proliferation. A CHINESE virologist who fled to the US as she feared she would be killed has claimed the coronavirus came from a military lab.

Dr Li Meng-Yan, a specialist in virology at Hong Kong's School of Public Health, says she "clearly assessed" Covid-19 came from a lab linked to the People's Liberation Army.

China has previously faced allegations it covered up the early days of the coronavirus outbreak and has angrily dismissed claims the virus may have come from a lab.

Dr Li however claimed the source of the outbreak was a military lab which she had discovered while studying person-to-person transmission of the virus.

Speaking during a livestream interview with Lude Press, she claimed she was not taken seriously when she reported her findings to her boss, reports Taiwan News.

Dr Li said: "At that time, I had clearly assessed that the virus came from a Chinese Communist Party military lab.

Without knowing the true nature of a disease, it is impossible for clinicians to appropriately shape their care, for policy‐makers to correctly gauge the nature and extent of the threat, and for the public to appropriately modify their behavior. Unless the intermediate host necessary for completing a natural zoonotic jump is identified, the dual‐use gain‐of‐function research practice of viral serial passage should be considered a viable route by which the novel coronavirus arose. The practice of serial passage mimics a natural zoonotic jump, and offers explanations for SARS‐CoV‐2's distinctive spike‐protein region and its unexpectedly high affinity for angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE2), as well as the notable polybasic furin cleavage site within it. Additional molecular clues raise further questions, all of which warrant full investigation into the novel coronavirus's origins and a re‐examination of the risks and rewards of dual‐use gain‐of‐function research.

Therefore, there is a history of denying laboratory leaks on the commercial meat industry that dates back about 40 years, an effective excuse that provided the Soviets with an alibi that held up for nearly 2 decades.

And regarding the second distinctive feature found in the novel coronavirus: If other viruses have been observed to acquire furin cleavage sites by passage under experimental laboratory conditions, then such a mechanism is theoretically possible for SARS‐CoV‐2 as well.[2]

China finally admits that US intelligence reports were correct and that the Wuhan virus alarm did trigger.  WHO is now trying to deflect implications.  But regardless, it outright proves China lied about the outbreak and hid vital information from the rest of the world.  WHO also penned an agreement with China that excludes the labs from being investigated.

Yes, that is a distinct possibility.  It doesnt explain all the markers present, the full extent of the accelerated timeline, or the epicenter being Wuhan.  But it definitely should be fully investigated.  The Wuhan Lab reportedly did use ferrets (both live and via cell cultures) in previous gain of function research. So they should at minimum release details on that work.

It could also be a combination - with gain of function experiments leading to infected ferrets and then these being sold off.  See earlier posts in thread showing Chinese lab workers selling experimental animals.

Reports are that Dr. Ai Fan was not interviewef by the two WHO origin investigators.  Despite China saying she was not missing, was well, and would be available, she did not materialize.  She was the doctor in Wuhan who ordered initial tests, disproved wet market hypothesis by linking earliest cases to lab instead, and blew whistle on China's coverup.  She was vanished earlier in the year after giving interview which Chinese censors removed from internet:

China Accuses U.S. Army Lab of Manufacturing the Coronavirus

The Chinese Communist Party continued its weird and sinister propaganda campaign to shift blame for the coronavirus to the United States with an editorial in the state-run Global Times on Sunday that suggested a U.S. army research laboratory created the disease.

The U.S. government lodged “stern representations” with the Chinese embassy over the antics of foreign ministry spokesman Lijan Zhao, the loudest and highest-ranking pusher of conspiracy theories about American origins for the Wuhan virus.

A CHINESE data leak appears to show the Communist Party "purged" a key database about the coronavirus from the Wuhan lab linked to the pandemic, an expert has claimed.

Cyber security expert Robert Potter said analysis of the leaked figures showed "major discrepancies" with the data China gave to the World Health Organisation.

Mr Potter explained on Sky News Australia that the database appears to show the Chinese Communist Party "purged" data to alter the country's real coronavirus figures.

He was speaking alongside Professor Christopher Balding who also said the data leak shows China was "fudging their own numbers".

It is latest in a growing dossier of cover-up allegations to be fired at China as the nation comes under scrutiny for its actions in the early days of the pandemic.

But comparing the records between Echohealth and the limited and allegedly "sanitized" records released by the Wuhan lab, they can show definitively the cover-up by China. That Echohealth has been refusing to release taxpayer paid for public records is telling on its own.  Also, the sample will definitively show when it was taken by its relative generation.  Lots of speculation that it will show itself to be the earliest generation completely undermining lab's claim that they had no sample until late in the pandemic.

Interesting how their sister lab in Wuhan refuses to release records on  their incidents or an accounting of the staff who were previously listed on their website but are now removed and missing.

The mouse infected with a lab-created type of SARS coronavirus was squirming upside down, dangling by its tail as a scientist carried it to a weighing container one day in February 2016. But the mundane task turned dangerous in seconds inside the North Carolina laboratory, which has drawn scrutiny for its partnership on similar research with China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology.

In that moment, it wasn’t enough that the experiment was taking place inside a biosafety level 3 lab, the second-highest security level, which was layered in high-tech equipment designed to keep dangerous pathogens from escaping. Or that the scientist was covered head-to-toe in gear to protect against infection: a full-body Tyvek suit, boot covers and double gloves, plus a powered air-purifying respirator.

As she carried the mouse, it climbed up its tail and bit her hard, breaking through the gloves and plunging its teeth — and potentially the virus — into her ring finger.

Then, instead of quarantining to wait for signs of infection, the scientist was allowed to go about her life in public for the next 10 days, wearing a surgical mask and reporting her temperature twice daily, newly obtained records show.

The scientist ultimately did not become ill, but the 2016 safety breach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s high-containment laboratories is one of several near-miss incidents at the university in recent years involving multiple types of genetically engineered coronaviruses, the records show.
