USCCA/Delta Defense or other legal insurances?

Does anyone have any experience with USCCA/Delta Defense or any other legal insurance type companies? Whats your opinion on the services they provide?

Been thinking about this too.   The legal cost benefit alone could be worth the money.

I like the concept of membership legal defense services although it's a shame they are needed. We are joining a homeschooling legal defense association after reading story after story about gov harassment that has been stopped cold by their lawyers and I've been looking at CCWSAFE for self-defense. Sounds like maybe an HOA one is needed after reading some of the recent threads here...kidding...kind of.

From what I can tell (not to be taken as correct), CCWSAFE will cover you legal bills fully, with no cap, as well as your spouse for the same price as USCCA covers just you for a cap of $300k. I also like that CCWSAFE will cover you for any self dense act where you felt your life or others were in danger, not just a shooting or even a firearm involved (you can be unarmed, etc). You need to have a legal permit though if required by your state which probably helps their liability. I have read on other forums that they have not actually defended a single case in court yet but I don't know if that's true.  Though this may be a huge pro mark if they are taking cases and preventing them from going to court. I don't know and would also like hear of anyone's experience?

CCWSAFE sounds interesting I hadn't heard of it before.

I've had this same question for a while now. I waited years to get my CCW because I'm honestly more afraid of all the legal BS and possibly going to prison than I am of just being killed. If any of these companies actually deliver I think it's worth every penny.

I'm still not carrying yet (but soon I swear!). Just waiting on some extra funds to buy a handgun I can actually hide on my skinny little body, but one way or another I'm getting some sort of CCW insurance before I start carrying regularly.

I've been a member of Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network for years.
They back you up with a million-dollar (and rising) fund to fight legal tangles from self-defense shoots, and they have local lawyers in all 50 states.  They're prepared to drop $10,000 on a moment's notice to get a lawyer on retainer when you have a self-defense shooting.

They send you new training materials -- DVDs and books -- every year from top-notch self-defense and legal experts like Massad Ayoob, Andrew Branca, Marty Hayes, and Marc "The Animal" Young.  These guys know what they're talking about, because they are expert witnesses at self-defense trials, and are expert firearms and unarmed self-defense trainers.

I think I've gotten my money's worth, and they've not had to defend me legally (yet).

I'm also with ACLDN and am quite satisfied with their service. One thing I like about them is they provide ongoing reference and education material.

I am a member of USCCA, I think I've been a member for almost a year. Thankfully, I haven't had to use their legal help services, so I can't comment on how good it is. USCCA does provide reference and education materials but it's mostly done through their magazine (comes with membership) and their online blogs. The president is very family oriented and much of the materials have a feel that they are directed towards armed moms and dads.

Aside: I am an occasional contributor to Conceal Carry Magazine, which is the USCCA publication. I was a member before they started the insurance program, though, and so do not have that from them.

I see 3 options that ppl have considered/used. They are:

US Concealed Carry

• costs range from $147 to $347/year

CCW Safe

• dual (home and ccw) is $269/year currently
• family plan for anyone who can legally carry a firearm

Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network

• $135/year
• Add household members to your membership at discounted dues of $60/yr.

I am very happy with USCCA.  Their magazine and online resources are great and to me are worth the annual fee.  Plus as a member you can enter all their gun drawings easily for free.  You just need to click on the "sweepstakes rules" and you will find link for free entry. Obviously this is just a fun extra but it is a nice touch that they dont forget about members.
