Not much change on gas at this point. Still running 2.65 on average. Went to BJ's wholesale and if you buy certain things on a list you get 25 cents per gal. off their gas. So we filled up 4 gas cans and car..

Interesting to see how this will play out. Will it remain strong through summer like 2015? Or will it collapse like 2016 and 2017? Very hard to prognosticate based on history.

CA, greater SF bay area suburban, diesel was 3.70 at the cheapest place in town and 3.90 at the 76 station by the freeway, unleaded .20 less in both places. We will hit 4.00 this summer in CA for sure, unless they suppress to keep right under given that we have a ballot initiative to undo the latest gas tax

Interesting. We just dropped a nickel in Southern Indiana to $2.81. I wonder if the 15 cent rise was the switch to summer blend.

Also interesting. Price rising in Missouri and on Texas coast. Dropping in northern Louisiana and southern Indiana.

It is odd as in North West Louisiana ,where I live ...there are 4 or more refineries ( 3 in 25 miles of me )
and also many in South Louisiana and Texas Transportation hardly figures into the cost as we have a navigable port
and pipelines ...Local Air Force base has a pipeline direct to one of the refineries,maybe to the others also....

To much 'speculation' about over seas politics and treaties ...we do not depend on foreign oil in the US...not any longer,that was in the past.

There are several state factors with differences in blends and tax structures. Many of the midwest states like Indiana have ethanol blend requirements so the price of gas can go up and down in relation to those costs as well. We also have limited refineries so problems at one can really jack up our prices.

I think the 15 cent rise is actually the 20 cent increase going from winter to summer blend coupled with a five cent general drop. Stores have until June 1 to switch so it would be about that time. Ours may be due to the tourist rolling into the lakes pulling their boats in.
It usually goes up only a few cents during boating season though.

We live very near a refinery and yet have about the highest gas prices in the state... perhaps it has nothing to do with it, but it has always struck me as odd.

The only thing that matters on gas prices is location/demographics. Gas in an affluent area with be significantly higher that a less affluent area. A busy intersection will have higher prices than a less busy one.
