A bread recipe disaster; dried sprouted wheat berries makes a good addition to wheat flour (known as Ezekiel bread) so I thought, why not do the same with buckwheat groats? Wife made the bread and it tastes like well-worn insoles.

I was completely new to Prepping, As soon as I joined a prepping firm then I also started to plan for any emergency survival. Reading a lot of stuff online and Might be buying few Emergency Food Packages for my next trek

Masonry work finshed on my vault room. Door delivered, not yet installed (concrete needs to dry properly first).
Took advantage of recent discounts and ordered some extra magazines for Glocks, Ruger P-series and PPS-43, as well as some more reloading tools.
Restocked my strategic supply of black leaf tea. If the SHTF apocalypse came and I ran out of tea, there will be no reason to survive, anyway.
Hope to get to the range on Sunday and practice.

Wife prepared and froze all these Red brand Cushaw's that some character down in Texas sent us the seeds this year.
Ate some, gave some away, and froze about 9 quarts of it.

Restocked some smokeless powder for handloading, as well as some .22LRs and some .380s for my wife.
Received couple MOLLE pockets from a good discount deal, not quite sure what I'll use them for yet, but didn't want to miss the chance.
Found and ordered some parts I needed for one of my antique guns.
Got several old chisels and gouges that need some restoration but will likely be usable again.

Getting used to my new forge, doing some adjustments in the workshop setup. Finished five knives for sale over the weekend.

Received reloading tools for another caliber, also received some new mags, while other still hang in the backorder universe.

Parts for my gunsmithing project have arrived, unfortunately missing a piece, so I'm waiting for that again.

If one can consider learning more languages a prepping thing (which I think is correct, as one never knows in which part of the word he encounters some bad times), I've done nice progress in Spanish over the last year and I'm still working on improving my reading of russian alphabet (being from a Slavic nation myself, it's not that hard for me to understand Russian, but reading/writing it is a different thing).

I've recently finished an order which resulted in accumulating quite a bit of aluminium scrap, mostly pieces of wire too short to do any good for binding or so, so I thought that rather than selling it in scrapyard, I'll see if I can learn casting it.

Me, I made stored food inventory yesterday. it is high time consuming my canned goods cos most are a bit out of date.
Found out that dried prunes cannot go further tahn 2 years out. They dry out further, too much.

You can rehydrate dried fruits that went too far. Ot just boil them into a jam. Or you can dry them completely (even parch them) and grind them. Back in the day, little wild pears were dried completely hard and crushed in a mortar to dust, then used to sweeten porridges. It was a popular cheap sweetener for the poor here.

I just put 8 sliced bananas in our dehydrator. I hope they last a long time because I don't want to have to do that for a long time. I used a mandolin, which worked quite well.

Took a walk in another part of the woods here, slowly getting to know the area. Brought back several ash sapling rods that I found on a pile of lumber waste. Those make good handles and shafts for various tools, including my historical reproductions, so I guess it's both for prepping and for self-employment That brings me to another new thing I made, I tried forging a very rough and simple dagger type, which seems to be dated anywhere from 18th to 19th century, I guess one could find such piece in WW1 trenches as well. It's really simple and highly functional dagger, having a rigid metal guard forged in one piece with the blade. Not that I needed more knives, but in case you had to arm, say, a partisan/marauder unit with some simple and quickly made fighting blade, it's good to know this design.
Working on our medieval style bedroom project, I've done more handplaning in the last couple weeks than in my whole life. One can't hone handtool skills too much, ever. Once I'm done with planing, I'll be doing some carpentry joints on wooden beams, so that will be another good practice.

Just regular old block planes, pretty much all wood except of the blades, nothing fancy. A medium one for the rough work, a long jointer plane to smooth the surface, also use it on areas with problematic grain to avoid deep tearing. I would of course prefer to have hewn beams, but as I can't make them myself nice enough to put them in my bedroom, I've decided to plane the beams, just to get rid of any sawmill traces. I can hew rough beams that I would surely use for building a barn or so, but not for a fancy interier setup.

thanks for the tip...funny thing is that I already knew that rehydration is a practice for preserved chestnuts (20 min soak before cooking) but I did not connect the dots....
