Looks impressive....but I can't help but think it'll all be SO useless when the power goes out!! Old tube type gear is very power hungry...but it's also more resistive to EMP.....so I guess you take your chances. I'd be MUCH more impressed with a totally off grid home setup with low power gear that's EMP hardened.

I'd feel like a dumbass sitting amongst all that crap in a SHTF situation.....thinking about all the stuff I could have bought with that money.

As Jack says.....just one mans opinion.

WOW!

I'm sure with a setup like that, he has his own back up power setup as well.

George W9EVT is on Washington Island, Wisconsin.

They are fed underwater from the mainland, have a full on-island generating plant, and George has had various forms of backup power for years.

Currently he is using batteries, and is in the planning for solar.  The generator he had was fine, but the fuel tank situation wasn't - leading to the alternate power search.

Obviously in a power-down situation he would run a single rig at a time.

During power up he can run several, but there are only five towers and a limited number of antennas.

BTW the coax work for switching gear in and out is done with DX Engineering Switches for his every-day communications gear and with opening walls (doors) to access the occasional gear.

Can't see the makes of the others.  I've restored some Collins to help keep the shack warm:

Collins 51S-1, (AM Station, Top) 32V-3/75A-1, (Below) KWM-2, 312B-5, 30L-1 516F-2, (Right) 75S-3B, 312-B4, 32S-3, 516F-2, 30L1 and 30S-1 sitting on floor

Collins "Gold Dust Twins" 74A-4, 312A-1, KWS-1

"Big Iron"- Collins 20V-2 Commercial 1KW Broadcast Transmitter (circa 1956) and audio chain now on 1.885 Mhz

Gotta have an antenna: (note prep garden to right and slightly back)
