Title: here's something to use if you're not hitting your mark
Post by: jims on September 29, 2013, 07:32:58 AM
I came across this on youtube and thought it might be useful, not just for the beginner, but for anyone that's not hitting the bullseye.

Oooh, Yes!  I would like the one for the rifle as well. I hope you can find & upload it. That'd be great, thanks!

Would something like that work for shooting a rifle too?

If yes, does anyone have a link please?

I just shoot first and draw a circle around where it hits...I always hit center. ::)

I have one from being a Marksmanship Coach when i was in the Marines if anyone is interested. Not quite as detailed but it's along the same lines. It focuses mostly on rifles though. Things like "If you're hitting all around the black but not in the black, focus on the front sight post more instead of the target." Maybe I could post these in a PDF for download some where with a link if people wanted? I have no idea how to do that, (I'm sure the wife does if there is an interest). Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Should I post this as a separate topic to see if there is an interest outside this post? I ask that cause I'm new here and not sure if I'm "hijacking" a post or actually helping :/

Ok, haven't been by the storage shed yet where I'm HOPING my CD is with the slides but after looking around I found some links to the class material we were given. The first is about the M9 service pistol. Keep in mind this is a very long read but the table of contents you can see what fundamentals you'd like to look over and just "jump" to that section.

The second is on the rifle. Again a long read, Chapter 4 gets into the marksmanship aspect.

I'll look and try to find the files and hopefully that CD that has all the slides and bullet points to cover as an instructor.

To be frank, those pie charts are nothing more than a polished turd... without proper instruction a shooter will never get accuracy, period.  The charts will do more harm than good to the uneducated shooter. In closing, "learning to shoot from bubba down the street" does not qualify as proper instruction.
