My mom gave me one of these the first year I was in Florida. I love it.

The three AA batteries are quirky, as it makes it hard to charge the batteries. My chargers just don't like charging odd numbers of batteries.

Does anybody know if plugging this thing in with a AC adapter would charge either the NiMH or the AA batteries?

I have been looking for a small 4-4.5 volt solar cell  that will fit over the speaker grill area. That would make this gem of a radio absolutely killer in my mind. Then I don't have to crank on it every 5 minutes or so. Just leave it in a window when I am not using it.

I have the 350 and use it allot. You will have to get a charger that allows individual cells to be charged instead of sets. Most solar panels are either 6 or 12 volt. I have a setup I'll post in the solar round the home thread http://thesurvivalpodcast.com/forum/index.php?topic=14.msg1064#newthat will solve your issue (and some others) but will take a little take a little muscle and a little cash.

Great price, but it doesn't have the tv bands.  I think tv would be worth the extra cost for many emergencies.  If nothing else, it gives you a few more choices of constant noise to listen to.

Feb 19 of next year, the TV bands are going to start to go away. More rural areas, they will work for longer as the biggest 1800 TV stations are converted to digital first, with smaller ones converting at some later date.

Thats true for the video portion. however the the side channel for audio most of us arent sure about yet. When I was looking for a radio I got one with SW instead of tv just for this reason and I figured on a large disaster all the local stuff wont work anyway so I will info from outside my area.

I guess I failed to mention that I listen to the podcast on one of these handy little radios.

My computer is in a spare bedroom. I use a small FM transmitter for an ipod to car stereo plugged into the computer.

I have the radio in the kitchen. I listen to the show while I am making lunch. The shows tend to be about the perfect length of time too.
