And thank you Sir! I've been in those situations where I wanted to sight in the air riffle, or the hatchet, or the chainsaw, etc., and then went, WAIT... I don't have a target (other than the neighbors bbq grill). So, now we do. Print until yor silly in the face!

I've been using Targetz for a while. Nice selection for both handgun and rifle. I print them up on a nice heavy bond paper and they're as good as the ones from the store.

Found the following info useful in terms of target size in shorter distances. Would be nice if some of the rifle experts here could comment on these target sizes.

The typical enemy target (in the case of Appleseed, a British Redcoat from 1775) has approximately a 20" torso target area. At 500 yards, that is a 4 minute of angle target.

1 MOA is 1" at 100 yards, or 5" at 500 yards. Moving inwards, it is 1/2 an inch at 50 yards or 1/4 inch at 25 yards.

The AQT (Army Qualification Test) used by Appleseed as a standard of Rifleman proficiency, has 4 stages. 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. The bulk of an Appleseed will be spent at 25 meters using targets printed at reduced size to simulate 100/200/300/400 yard shooting. Appleseed teaches the fundamentals to keep your shots inside of a 4 MOA target area.

The 100 yard target is about 8.5" wide at 25 meters, the 200 yard targets are 4.25" wide, the 300 yard targets are 2.75" wide and the 400 yard targets are 2" wide. The 1" squares used for many of the drills in a weekend are the 500 yard potential target (minus ballistic drop and windage).

Factors left out with simulated targets are wind drift and ballistic drop, which are advanced factors that a competent shooter can either figure out on his own for his particular load, or obtain further instruction. The instructor will talk about these issues, but actual shooting at real distance is dependent on the range having these facilities available. Many ranges simply don't have that type of distance available, or scheduling conflicts with other shooting disciplines make it impossible to use the range.

Speaking of domestic enemies here's yet another 8.5x11 PDF with nice targets to practice with. The Bulls Eye is sized at 1" so at 25 yds it would have an MOA of 4.

Want to point out that you should be targeting center of mass for people type targets. Aiming off to the side increases the chances for a miss or failing to cause significant trauma.

Does anyone have any tips for printing targets for 100+ yards? When limited to a printer page area (8.5x11") all I can think to do is add bright color to make it easier to acquire.

Has anyone considered blowing up a target image so it prints across 4 pages? This isn't a frequent problem, but would be nice for off hand shooting with open sights at larger distances.
