I bought Motorola 2-way radios that not only could use the recharger it came with, but you could place 3 AA batteries into it. This got me thinking. So I bought a solar recharger that charges 4 AA,AAA,C,and D rechargeable batteries. It might not have a solar panel on the radio, but I thought it was a nifty way to keep them charged if the SHTF and there was no power for an extended time.

Agreed. i have a neat silva solar charger takes 4 x AA. I also have adapters that convert AAA to AA, so they can also be charged.   The Silva unit is designed to be used outdoors (the battery compartment is sealed).  But i have been looking to get away from any battery rfequirment. I have also found a wind up head torch.

I'm sorry, but that is a funny visual.
