Atlas:
I am excited about what my wife and I have accomplished this year. We moved from suburban metro Detroit to 5 acres (more land than we ever dreamed of) on the edge Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor. We have 7 chickens that are finally laying eggs. 2 4x8 gardens that are producing kale, peppers, tomatoes, spaghetti squash, and pumpkins. Unfortunately, the apple trees are taking a break this year.
It is nice to feel like providing for ourselves is actually possible.
I am just curious to hear what other people have added this year. Any exciting projects going well?

Congratulations, Atlas! It sounds really wonderful. I look forward to hearing about the progress you make as time goes along. We had a late frost this year where I am and didn't get any fruit at all. I'm hoping for better luck on our 5 apple trees next year.
