Stocking Ponds...are there any fish you shouldn't put together?
WVHunter:
Hey folks,
I just got some new property in the mountains. It has a small pond on it (maybe 50 ft across) that already has bluegill. I want to add more fish as I catch them but I don't to mess up what's already there, cause bluegill are good eatin' and are easy to catch. Any info?
KYdoomer:
I'd add a some largemouth bass or maybe a few channel catfish.
You just want a few fish to keep the bluegill population under control. A few mature predator fish can nicely fill that role. I don't think you really have room for much more. Also, make sure the pond has some sunken brush or concrete for cover for the smaller fish.

Thanks for the info KYdoomer...and yeah I got lots of cover. Unfortunately, more cover than pond!

I feel your pain, I had the same situation a while back. Out of curiosity, what are you catching right now and what size?

WVHunter:
Just bluegill about 5 or 6 inches in length.
