I like that design a lot!  That's a blade that wants to be used, and for a variety of different tasks.

it was built to be used.  If it is too pretty what is the point?  I make everyone of my knives to be used and used hard.  If it breaks or fails to due my workmanship i refund money.  Now if it has obvious signs of over abuse, IE you used a hammer to beat it though 8" of pine that is your fault not mine.

Beautiful blade. Loveing that bowie style. Is the strength of the knife effected by having only a single pin in the handle?

No not at all i make allot of knives with no pin.  By useing modern adhesives the pin ends up being more decoration than anything.
