Title: Inexpensive and Simple knife sharpening system article on Brink of Freedom
Post by: DheereCrossing on January 23, 2014, 10:57:56 AM
I've posted a new article called 'Hair-Popping-Sharp Knives' (http://brinkoffreedom.net/tactical-and-firearms/hair-popping-sharp-knives/#comment-48334) on Brink of Freedom.  It's simple sandpaper system with the article designed for people that are not knife-geeks and who have been frustrated in the past with the sharpening process.  Please feel free to comment away - I'd appreciate feedback from real knife people with a lot of creativity and technical knowledge on the subject as well.

edit: archer: corrected link

That link in the first post is broken, I believe this is the article you are referring to?

I'm not a knife expert, but that's a pretty decent article for those looking for an inexpensive way to learn knife sharpening without buying into a system.

will have to read in depth, not sure if it matters, the [corrected] link takes me to the top of the comments section, i had to scroll up to the beginning of the article (first world problems *sigh*)

I'm not ready to turn in my stones yet but I like the method. The marker idea was brilliant. It makes sense, my Dremel chainsaw sharpener is essentially sand paper.

Woodworkers call that the "Scary Sharp" method.

Yep, I'm familiar with Scary Sharp - I'm a woodworker first and we were doing this before someone came up with that name and started a brilliant marketing plan - imitation is the greatest form of flattery so they say.

I was just hoping to break it down and bring it to those here who might not be interested in following  woodworking blog or forum and would miss it otherwise.

The links only lead to a page with 4th July countdown.

Yes, I think BrinkofFreedom.net was down because Josiah was concentrating on PermaEthos.  I've just gotten emails of all the comments made on my article in the last couple of weeks so I'm thinking Josiah is getting the site updated.
