New to Firearms...Looking for Suggestions for my 1st Handgun!

--- Quote from: ronoverdrive on December 03, 2009, 12:11:03 PM ---Honestly if you have $1500 for a handgun I recommend you get two and make one a 22 like a Ruger Mk III. 22lr conversion kits are nice, but requires changing your handgun's configuration to switch between ammo types. Better to just get a dedicated 22 you can practice on to improve your technique.

i was thinking about that,
i will def have to keep this in mind before purchasing a handgun

Just wanted to say a HUGE THANKS to everyone who has been contributing to this thread!

It has been extremely helpful.

As i mentioned i live in Manitoba (Canada).  As some one above mentioned, i should look at used firearms, sadly, I have not come across much in the way of used firearms.  However, a good friend of mine has recommended several websites (1 in particular) that specialize in selling used firearms (all located within canada).  So i have began the process of getting in contact with the indivdiuals at these websites to inquire about their stock...
And thus far i am finding some WICKED deals.
Some great used firearms (and some of these are practically NEW) at great prices...

I will keep you posted!

again thanks to all for your input

and if anyone else has anything else to say/add...

keep it coming!
