Review of air powered squirrel rifles in FFG

I found an article in the Oct 2009 issue of Fur Fish and Game, pg 26.  The author discusses his success at taking small game.  Specifically he discusses the Benjamin Marauder ( )and the Walther Falcon (

He reports getting .5 inch groups at 50 yds.  The Benjamin is a PCP, which can be charged from a prorietary bicycle pump type item sold separatly or with an attachment from an air tank.   The barrel shroud also acts effectively as a silencer.  Downside is the price at over $500.

$500 is cheep for a PCP.

You know, frankly, except that you need some of it still to survive still, I like to think of our money as useless. I could have $20,000 under my mattress where it'd be safer than in any bank, but if TSHTF in a year, it's not gonna do me any good. It would do me a bunch of goos put into well, the stuff in my signaature file.

There are custom shops run by crosman/benjamin and other makers, and a lot of independent shops too, and let me say it's easy to spend $500 on an airgun that's not nearly so nice a gun even after a bunch of add-ons. If higher priority stuff is taken care of for you and you will use/enjoy that rifle, I say get it. I would!
