Iambic key
(1/1)
BillFoster:
I am looking at purchasing an iambic key for CW. I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations. Brand names are not important to me, but price is a consideration. A straight key stirs up my carpal tunnel.
exSun:
Assuming you're looking for a key, not a keyer (most rigs have them built in) then Vibroplex and Bencher are the usual choices. Many more are available - for a lot of money. And there are some specialized keys, like those that plug into an Elecraft rig's front panel. But I advise staying away from cheap, gimmick keys. My own (key and keyer) are Nye Viking but they are no longer made and can only be found used.

BillFoster:
Thanks exSun. Yes, I was looking for a key, my Yeasu has the built-in keyer. I looked at several and I ended up purchasing a MFJ from Giga. Nothing fancy, I’ll see how it works.
exSun:
Good luck with it! I still fumble with mine every day :D
One suggestion: pick a mode (A or B) and stick with it. My early keyers were all mode A and I cannot make any use of a mode B keyer.
