PROBABLY against most state fishing regulation, but hey, in a true survival situation, I always choose to be tried by 12 rather than carried by 6.
Here goes...

just to add to your post, crushed black walnut hulls or butternut hulls are supposed to stun fish. Apparently the chemical juglone, slows the breathing of fish so if you put a few pounds of crushed hulls it will force the fish to the surface. Obviously this wouldn't work in a large body of water but could be an expedient way to gather fish from a small river, stream or pond. I doubt this is legal but definetly a good piece of information to file away in case you find yourself in a SHTF situation. I haven't tried this myself but I have found several sources that support it.

What part of the red snapper is poisonous? Whenever we go red snapper fishing, we always bring some soy sauce and wasabi and have one for lunch.--you cannot get any fresher sushi.

Mmmmm....sushi....
Well you know that the ancient Japanese samurai used to put food and seafood inside on balls of rice called Onigiri and would wrap them up with nori seaweed and it would keep for a good while. I wonder...
