Anyone had this happen before?

Well, since the initial experiment I've invested a cool $6 on a handful of airlocks just to keep things clean. However, the gallon I made with the balloon came out so good it's scary.  :zombie:

It was clean and crisp and honestly tasted better that most anything off the shelf except Austin EastCiders Honey. I can't wait for the next batch!

100%. I'm all for getting in "on the cheap" but proper air locks are right up there with sanitizers. You just need them.
