Title: $50.00 for $5.00 face on Ebay 90% silver
Post by: leatherneck on November 20, 2008, 06:45:42 PM
I found this auction where you are getting $5.00 face value 90% silver for $50.00 shipped.  Appears to be a pretty good deal according to the conflation calculator.

I ordered some myself, I'll let you guys know what I ended up with when they arrive.

Looks like a good deal.  He has 100% positive feedback and with over 3000 transactions. I might have to get a couple.  8)

Yea, it was by far the best deal I seen on Ebay. I should probably buy some more before he sells out, but with Christmas so close I need to watch my money.  I think he started out with 150 rolls, I'd love to be sitting on that much silver!

You guys, ten times face value is high. I suppose it is ok shipped but there should be local dealer who will sell you junk silver for less than that. Might wanna do some checking, a dime should be selling at around 75 cents (today's spot is just over $10 oz). Working with a dealer you can buy more coins for your money. Just a thought.

I would normally agree that it is best to work with a local dealer. However, my local dealer wants $12 per $1 of face value or $2 more than the guy discussed here. I ordered both dimes and quarters from the Ebay seller and got my order in 3 days with the order being 100% correct.

One option that I am starting to see is for people to put ads in Craigslist.org offering to buy silver coins at X dollars over spot. I haven't tried it so I don't know what kind of response people are getting.

Quite a bit of that going on right now, some dealers are offering more than spot when you sell right now (for gold and silver). I would venture a guess and say that they believe that the metals are undervalued right now and will go up. One of my favorite online dealers is this link  http://www.ajpm.com/  and they are paying over spot for gold and silver. Besides them being undervalued, it is possible that demand is just outstripping supply. Good luck.
