Walked into west marine and saw that they carried this firman generator line.

Are they any good ?

I bought the 3000 Watt one a couple months ago.  I've only used it a few times camping, but it powers my AC unit on my Camping trailer and so far I've been very happy with its power/sound/value.  I particularly like the remote start on the model I have.  Previously I had to connect two Honda 2000i's to power my AC, but I bought the firman for less than 1 of the Hondas.

Carl:
Typical Chinese by-products with some care, they can provide good service.

Citizen Zero:
Interesting lineup of low amp 120VAC offerings. But, they still appear to be sourced in China. When it comes to Marine goods, gennies rarely come this cheap unless they are used with many hours already under their belt.

As was stated in a previous post, with proper maintenance the unit can last a long time.

As with all things, your mileage may vary. Choose well with your purchase and prosper, choose poorly and you will be purchasing again.

Just my $.02 - I'm broke now.

Carl:
I have found using SLICK50 oil additive with PTFE in it provides much better engine protection as doe also some synthetic base oils.
