I was reading Dim Tim's post about shelving for cans. Some really good ideas.

But what about glass jars? Any ideas on how to make auto rotating shelving for canned goods in jars?

From what I remember of my grandmother canning. She canned all weekend, put up like 100 quarts at a time.

You pull all the old stuff off the shelves, put the new stuff up, and put the old stuff back up so it's in front. You are doing this once a year, so it's not like your constantly shuffling stuff like you can when buying canned food from a store every couple of weeks. Everything for a given year is all canned within a month of each other, so it's all really the same age anyhow. Pulling the old stuff off is a good excuse to check dates and for broken seals anyhow.

If you do smaller batches throughout the year, if you make your shelves so you can reach the backs, you can load from the back, remove from the front.

I suppose a lazy susan could work as well. Get a book shelf upright and label it 'Add Here' and use it to 'block' taking the newest additions.
