ever been to the Allagash river wilderness ?

I saw an interesting survival school up in Maine, Jack Mountain Bushcraft. They do canoe trips down the Allagash and other places.

I have been looking up some of these far northern rivers out of curiosity but recalled my car trip to northern Maine in the early 1990's when I saw so much of that area was heavily clearcut as mentioned here or just go on google earth and you can see it.

"That Allagash corridor is wild as hell unless you walk more than a quarter mile from the river to take a leak, whereupon you emerge blinking into the clear-cut desert. A picture of the world as it sadly is - one more uglified entry on the international profit-maximizing atlas, another British Columbia or Brazil or Borneo. "

Anyway, that has kept me out of that neck of the woods ever since my trip there and I have preferred to canoe other rivers instead and never ventured onto that river
