Its funny I think  I read an article about a grocery store owner in the south that was gearing up ordering stuff before a hurricane came. He stated that he ordered a ton of extra strawberry pop tarts as that is the first thing that goes. Something about a comfort food.

LOL! There is definitely some truth to that. I remember before Hurricane Ike came through a few years ago my wife went to WalMart to pick up a few things and came back with bags of chips, pop tarts, Little Debbies, and other assorted junk food. Her thought was we already had essentials in case we were impacted for more than a few days so the junk food would make going without power for a little while a little more tolerable.

There is not substitute!  I have frypan I got from my Grandfather that was old when he got it.  In a pinch it can also be used as a weapon and it makes an amusing sound when bonked over a knucklehead's skull.

I recommend printing out the post with the 100 items listed.  That could become quite a shopping list when things are going south in a hurry.

Ditto on the snacks.  I lived in hurricane country for a while and everyone else was there for water and canned goods, I got Swiss Cake Rolls and Pringles.  Really went just to get some extra cash.

I probably should buy more oil lamp wicks. Mine are packed away and no idea where they are. I did break out the oil lamps the other night when the power went out and even though they are new wicks, just.. in .. case.

Any suggestions for a spreadsheet to keep preps organized and thought out?

Thanks for the list, couple good ideas there and every idea counts; but mostly it's either obvious stuff or unnecessary stuff. Shaving cream and aftershave? Really?? Now, I can uderstand one's desire to shave for hygienic reasons (despite it's overrated), but is a straightrazor and any soap not enough? Or a knife and water/oil? Why wasting money and room to hoard unnecesary items?

The funny thing is watching what really flies off the shelves locally when we have a big snow storm forecast.

1. Bread
2. Totinos frozen pizza
3.  Lean quisines
4.  Snow shovels
5.  Meats

Nothing with any shelf life, just the stuff they'll need for the next few days so they're not inconvenienced.

I had an on line friend from Serbia and he said their family business became refilling Bic lighters with a propane cylinder. They found a niche need and were really the only game in town, so it was enough to get them through, but his stories of hardship and bitterness was heartbreaking. Suffice to say, he's not a fan of NATO.
