Texas Preparedness
(1/1)
Biff:
I attended an Infragard meeting (http://www.infragard.net) this week, and the guest speaker discussed preparedness in Texas (specifically the south central area).
Some of the web sites that were addressed are:
https://www.preparingtexas.org/index.aspx?
http://www.readysouthtexas.gov/
http://www.whatsyourrq.org/ - this site includes a test to find your "readiness quotient".
Per the http://www.readysouthtexas.gov/radios.asp web site, HEB is selling Midland All-Hazards Emergency/NOAA Weather Alert Radio (Model WR-100 S.A.M.E.) "at a discount price" (whatever that means, but that's what's on the web site).
The http://www.readysouthtexas.gov/brochures.asp web site has brochures to download, including a coloring book for kids. I picked up a couple of the hard-copy brochures - it's interesting to note that the bulk of the document describes CBRN preparedness, but maybe 1/4th of a page for natural disasters.
The https://www.preparingtexas.org/index.aspx? site has some upcoming training courses (free), including a Regional Agriculture Terrorism Conference, a Texas Homeland Security and Hurricane Conference, and the 2009 National Hurricane Conference.
There's also "lessons learned" at https://www.preparingtexas.org/ViewLessons.aspx.
