Just thought I'd drop in a little update. I'm not in Hancock County (South of Findlay)... and what a bummer, it seems there is nobody else around me to chime in! I enjoyed the one meetup at Ceasar Creek... looks like I'll have to chime in from here from now on...

Rumor has it some Ohio guard units have been deployed this week and the toledo air guard unit is on alert. Anyone know more info? I work with a woman whose husband was deployed Wednesday.

I would bet that they are deploying to Cleveland.

Michael Brelo's verdict is due out some time this week. He is the cop that jumped on the hood of the car with the Malissa Williams & Timothy Russell fiasco.

He refilled his clip at least twice and jumped on the hood of the car while firing downward.

Thing is they were probably already dead when he did his moves there so they might find him innocent, if they do there could be protests.

The Toledo ANG Base is about three hours from Cleveland by convoy, so I don't think support to Cleveland is the reason. As far as the base being on the alert, they may have raised the terrorist threat level for some reason they are not saying - Toledo flies F-16s and is responsible for air defense of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant, among other things. Close air support for urban police departments isn't one of them. These threat levels change frequently based on current intel, and are generally on a need to know basis, like you work there.

I moved back to NW Ohio (Wood county) about a year ago after living in Nebraska for 4 years. I've been slacking on my preps while I was out there, because I had no intention of staying there. Now I've got a modest 115 year old farmhouse on 1.3 acres to support my GF and myself. We have no desire to have kids, and are looking at this as our mostly self-sufficient retirement home. I'm looking to connect with like-minded folks for skill improvement and general camaraderie.

Yep, the workshop was great. Let's get some more Ohio events going. A strong community helps all of us learn more. If nothing else, my facebook feed is a lot more satisfying with the influx of permies and preppers I met over the weekend.

Not too much in Ohio, myself and IAMBRAINEATER hung out once but not too many are around from this forum.

I am semi rural in Northeast Ohio and have friends but none of them are on this forum.

As far as things go, maple sap season is in full swing, pruning is happening and otherwise I am planning getting my beehives readies too.

This early spring (silly groundhog) is kicking us into high gear early, just hope things don't bud and get frosted.
