new posts don't always show up ?

<< < (2/3) > >>

Mr. Bill:
Ah now.  Maybe this is causing your problem:

"Show unread posts since last visit" does like it says: it only displays unread posts that have accumulated since the last time you logged out.  So if there are any posts that you didn't read on your previous logins, they're not shown.

Down at the bottom of this list is a button labeled "ALL UNREAD TOPICS".  This will display your unread posts since the beginning of time.  The "Unread" link up in the top menu also does the same thing.

Stwood:
Yes. CLicking on UNREAD in the column below your top of page avatar, bring up a boatload of posts.

Seems like we're each seeing different things. I don't see "Show unread posts since last visit" just "unread". I also don't see  "ALL UNREAD TOPICS". I just click the "unread" button I see, read those I want to and then click "mark all messages read". I never see those again unless there are new posts.

Up top of the page next to my picture, is   "Hello fritz_monroe"

Just below that I have this:

Show unread posts since last visit.
Show new replies to your posts.

Ah, if you have shrunk your header, that would be invisible.  You're probably one of those header shrinker people, aren't you? 8)

Top right: there's a little up-arrow or down arrow.  If you put your mouse on it, it says "Shrink or expand the header."  Little arrows like this appear in a few places on the forum, so you can hide stuff you don't need, and especially so you can accidentally click on them and never figure out why things vanished.
