Well, it is understandable why so many people are feeling doom and gloom. Dow of 6500 and dropping everytime government speaks. A depression which will rival the 1920's. The government adopting socialist ideals. Its enough to almost believe that something would come to erase all the corruption. It will be interesting to see if anything develops. However, I doubt it. If he feels that way, then so be it, and he wants to warn people so I think he truly believes it. Maybe I am just burnt out on apocalyptic prophecies. I will do as always and prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Well to be honest I have heard plenty of prophetic doomsday in my time as well. 

I think you have it covered in a nutshell.  "Hope for the best and prepare for the worst."

I would add that we should all be praying for our Nation like never before.

Saw that on Drudge too. I feel that some folks have esp and feel that his career would be in jeopardy if he was inaccurate. So I am sure he thought long and hard before annoucing this premonition. 
He may be feeling the extra attention  right now as Drudge has many readers.

Preachers earn their living with this stuff.  They become experts at it.  They have ready-made responses when a "prediction" doesn't come true.  Going on four decades now I've watched Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swaggart, and Pat Robertson make every manner of outlandish apocolyptic prediction, then easily blow it off when it didn't come true.  Doesn't bother them at all.

This stuff has been going on ever since sun-stroked goat herders started writing down their starvation-induced visions in the middle east four thousand years ago.

IMHO -  Tommy J -  it seems we shouldn't paint with such a broad brush.  If I were to say "all survivalists are wacko camo wearing neo-nazis who live in the mountains in underground bunkers.", what kind of reaction do you think I'd get? (and rightfully so)

I'm not defending or berating this pastor, just saying that if it comes true, it could be a lucky guess or it really was from God.  If it doesn't this pastor will have far greater issues to worry about than our opinions of him.

Prepare for the worst, expect the best.  I just went to see Wilersen's blog and he has elaborated more on this.
