Hi I am Johnny aka Grimm from the Bug Out Boys youtube channel. When I am not out filming the videos I am usually out performing on my violin with my bands.
I got into being self reliant one day when I was sitting on my back porch and looked down into the woods and asked myself if I could go down there now and survive with just what I have in my pockets. Did I have the tools and skill to make a fire or shelter. All the answers were no so I decided to do something about it. I created the youtube channel to document it and hoped that it would help others seeing my failures and successes. I love being outdoors and I love learning new skills and trades. I am also looking forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with fellow like minded survivalists as well as hopefully contribute a few of my own.

Hello everyone, my name is Justin and I am a 37 year old guy with a wife and 2 kids born and raised in uber-liberal Illinois. My wife and I are fairly new into preparedness (about a year), but I am an old boyscout with experience in bushcraft skills. We are currently working on paying off all of our debt, and have developed a family plan to move to Colorado in 4 years.

We are planning on starting slow (post-move) to create a self sufficient homestead, build a passive solar home, set up an aquaponics system and become as independent as possible.

I stumbled upon Jack's podcast a few months ago, and have been a regular listener ever since.

Thanks Redman. I believe Perth and Houston have similar climates although the seasons are reversed.

Still waiting for an extremely late fall to show up here, although the garden seems to think it’s spring (by the calendar it should be almost winter!) seasons messed up over there too or are you having a normal spring?

It has been a strange year here... virtually no winter at all this year and extremely low precipitation. And... we are already into the very hot temps way ahead of the normal schedule...

However, because of the mild winter and no late frost, I have a lot of fruit on the trees... the sweet cherries, apricots and plums are already ripening. (SE NM, so 4 degrees latitude north of Houston).

Hello folks,

I am a long-time listener in Lawrence KS. I wasn't around for the Jetta days, but was definitely here for the "another day another dollar" days. Have been busily working on my resilient life and homestead since 2011.

I throw an annual community event which is coming up this coming Saturday, June 2. The event features stringband music, barn dancing, an epic potluck dinner, and sustainability-related workshops and a keynote speaker. This year's speaker is Marcin Jakubowski, amazing open-source design proponent, whom Jack has interviewed twice. Marcin is also hosting a 3D printing workshop in the morning, and registration is open for anyone who would like to build their own open-source machine under his supervision.

Is this the best way to get in touch with TSPers in my area? If not, I would appreciate other suggestions. I would love to meet anyone in the KC/eastern KS area. Thanks!
