Ways to make Cordage
« on: November 10, 2008, 03:05:22 PM »
Here are a few ways to make cordage:

I've created cordage using a different method, it's rather difficult, I want to try the Reverse Wrap method listed below.

Reverse Wrap Method

http://www.primitiveways.com/cordage.html - also explains about Thigh Rolling which can go must faster. Just need a thigh with few clothes to bind on.

Thigh Rolling - much faster once you get the hang of it.

I have tried the reverse wrap method and it works great.  I think the best way to learn is to get some baling twine, unravel and split it, and then make a new piece of cordage with it.  That saves alot of the material trial and error and lets you work on the contruction.  After you get the hang of it, start working with your grasses, bark, stems, horse hair, dog hair, yucca or whatever else you are going to use.
