Thanks, Endurance.  I'll take a look at that Sunwayman, I just have issues paying over $50 for a single AA flashlight.  I have been looking at the Fenix lights, especially the 72 lumen model.

Honestly, so do I.  I caught mine on a clearance as the new v10r has 210 lumens and they were selling the old 190 lumens for $50.

For most everyday stuff I don't care about a momentary on, but when I carry a gun I prefer it.  Since I cant carry at work, it's nice to have a smaller option that doesn't take up so much pocket realestate.

I just added a Letherman Juice - s2 to my back back kit.  Of course it's an orange juice s2.
Basic small kit is a few flashlights, cordage, compass, cell phone, knife of some sort with a first aide kit in the car that's easy to include in my back pack.

I don't often have to carry much on me; the distance between work and home is about 1.3 miles and I carry two sets of clothing in the SUV just encase.

Thanks for all the great ideas y'all.  Once I get mine dialed in, I'll contribute my own kit.  It'll end up looking like too much, but I live urban and carry a sizable backpack with me everywhere I go, so it all fits.

If anyone read my first post of my edc awhile back you know that it was waaaay overboard.  Now that I have learned a few things and focused on what's really important to me I'm much better off.  I took much of what I was calling edc gear and added it to my vehicle ghb.



I drive to numerous retail stores each day for work and my vehicle is never more than 500 yds away. Some of what is below is needed for business purposes only so when i am off my kit lightens up a bit. I decided to take advantage of my laptop bag so I have a larger edc than most.. .anyway here it goes.

This kit works perfectly for me and goes everywhere I go. The bag has three pouches which can add extra room. I vacuum sealed some of the items to keep the thinkness down.

I noticed that except for a couple on page 1, NOBODY has a revolver as part of their EDC.

Why is that?

I would think that a revolver would make a better EDC as they are easier to keep cleaned.

for me at least, capacity was my choice. i don't own any wheelguns yet... i emphasize 'yet'

Personally, I think revolvers look better.
I think they are easier to maintain.
I think they feel right in my hand, while a pistol doesn't feel right in my hand.

Like I said, this is all my personal opinion, so it may be inconsequential to you.

i'd rather have more bullets than i need than not have enough. personally i think revolvers are ok looking, but some pistols (like mine) are sexy.

i've never maintained a revolver but my pistol is pretty easy to keep up, IMO. and i like how much more my grip feels on a pistol since i can get my off hand just about completely on the frame.

I agree with the lack of ammunition being the main reason why a revolver is not my primary carry gun (which is an XDM .45), but I do have a small 5 shot .32 revolver that I carry in a pocket holster if I cannot conceal my XMD.  My dad carried the .32 for years, and it was one of the first guns I ever owned...

Statistically speaking, the FBI statistics on 1 on 1 self defense shooting average 4 to 5 rounds.  That's an average, so half those situations had more than 5 rounds fired.  (Of course, this is also averaging the non trained shooter as well as the highly trained shooter and I would consider most on this site to be higher trained than the average).  Now throw in the 2 on 1 or more (Gang or robbery situations) and those limited rounds become a much higher liability.   Maintaining my XD is not any more difficult than maintaining a wheel gun (I do like wheelguns, kind of a sexy yesteryear look), but modern firearms like the glock or XD are no more prone to failure than a revolver.  Also, the profile of some semi's is flatter than that of most but hte smallest wheel guns.  This can make concealment or comfort a tad bit easier.  In the end, either will work fine, and the benefits of the semi seem to outweigh that of a revolver by a small margin.  Either works though.

Whoops, My mistake, The average shots fired by both parties is 4 to 5, individually it was 3.   However, again this is an average, there are times when 6, 10 or 15 rounds may not be enough, and given the potential of 2 on 1 or more attackers, as long as I'm carrying anyway, I might as well carry enough to cover all the bases.  (Also I don't normally carry reloads, so more in the mag is better in my situation).  I would be more apt to carry smaller capacity sidearms if I carried reloads.  But I consider it faster to have 13 rounds available, than 5 rounds and 2 reloads of 5 rounds.   Just my opinion though.

while i see your point, since the discussion seems to be revolving (what a pun!) about capacity, if a drawn gun defuses the situation then it doesn't matter if it was a pistol, wheelgun, or cap gun.

This data only includes the times when firearms are fired.  I'd be perfectly happy to stop an event without having to fire a shot, but I'm too much of a realist and understand that things happen and that may not be the case.  If only 1 in 100 shooters required more than 5 bullets, I'd still carry something with more simply because you never know if you may be that 1 or one of the 99 others.  Better safe than sorry.

iPhone 5 in Olive Drab Green Lifeproof case (the flashlight app has replaced the light that had been on my key chain).
Old Timer "Middle Man" three blade, the knife I actually use.
Benchmade folder I've had for about 18 years I don't know the model name.
I keep a few $100 bills tucked away in my wallet, just in case cards aren't working.

I like revolvers but hat the swell of the cylinder more than their lack of capacity.

there is another thread asking about money belts and you mentioning the hundreds has me thinking that i really need to up the cash i carry. i need to get a money belt as i think it would be cool/useful and i also don't want that kind of cash in my wallet in case it gets lost/stolen.

Don't have a picture of my whole current EDC right now, though here's my recent carry gun (G27) with Cold Steel Recon1 (old Jap. made series). The knife is my general-purpose blade, while I always carry a "dedicated" defensive/combat knife on me as well. That one varies, depending on where I am, what am I wearing (pocket size) and what level of danger I expect. Usually it's CS RajahII or Spartan, as well as Black Talon. My usual fixed knife, when I carry one, is either CS Recon Socut or Kizlyar Irtysh. But I don't carry those too often in the city.



But you've seen guns and knives here many times. Wanted to show you this - here's a little something I carry on me (among other stuff) - my survival capsule. It's a survival/EDC kit, stripped down to essentials (IMO). All fits into a delrin capsule, watertight and very durable.
Contains essential handy items: matches, safety pin, scalpel blade, micro lightstick (fishing bait), needle with a length of saddler thread. Also has about 1m of thin nylon cord on the capsule, plus a small yet durable stainless clip. As you can see, this may not be an ultimate kit for the end of civilization. It's optimized for rahter regular, yet important needs - get some emergency light (that tiny lightstick is surprisingly bright once your eyes adapt to darkness a bit), the needle+thread and safety pin can be used to quick gear repairs (clothes, bag, shoes...). Scalpel and matches need no explanations I guess...



I used to carry several types and sizes of survival kits, until I finally recognized I only really need these couple small items. Sure, if I lived elsewhere, I might have added couple water purification pills and such...
And yes, I do have larger kits with much more stuff, but I only carry them outdoors. This is my true EDC.
This capsule is in my pant pocket (clipped to a belt loop) everywhere I go, along with the G27 (that one is not in pocket though), spare mag, two knives and a tiny flashlight (Leatherman Monarch AAA).

Is it anything special?  Or just a black pill capsule?
